Frequently asked questions

What does 2.5 to 3.0 mean?

Those are NTRP ratings, the self rating scale used in adult tennis. A 2.5 player can sustain a short rally with someone of similar ability. A 3.0 player is fairly consistent on medium paced shots but still working on depth, direction, and net play.

How is point play different from a drill clinic?

Drill clinics focus on repetition of a stroke. Point play keeps the ball live, so you practice serving, returning, and deciding what to do under real point pressure, with coaching notes between points.

Do I need a partner to sign up?

No. Groups rotate partners through the session, so you play with and against different people.

How long is each session?

Ninety minutes, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

How many players are on court?

Six players maximum, with one coach.

Will this help me get ready for league doubles?

Yes. Most points played in these sessions are doubles, which is the format used in most adult league play, so you work on serve placement, returns, poaching, and where to stand as a team.

What if I have never played a competitive point before?

That is common at the 2.5 level. The coach sets up scoring formats and starting patterns so points begin in a manageable way, and stops play to explain positioning.
